Troubleshooting: Microsoft "Approval required" or "Need admin approval" error when connecting Enpass to OneDrive

When setting up Enpass Business with a Microsoft 365 account, you may run into a prompt from Microsoft stating "Approval Required" or "Need Admin Approval":

Microsoft needs admin approval

Why am I seeing this message?

Your IT team may have enabled additional security for Microsoft 365 accounts. To create Enpass vaults on OneDrive, you may need a global administrator to approve your access in Microsoft Entra ID.

  • If the message you see includes a Request approval button, click that button to notify your admin that you need access.
  • If the message does not include that button, contact your admin to request access.

What does the admin need to do?

To approve Enpass access to OneDrive:

  1. Launch Microsoft’s app authorization process for Enpass with an administrator account.
  2. Provide consent on behalf of your organization.
    • Or you can consent for yourself only (consent can be extended to other users later).

  3. In Entra ID (portal.azure.com), go to Enterprise Applications > All Applications, and select Enpass.
  4. In the Enpass | Permissions screen, click the Grant admin consent for [Your Company Name] button.
    • Or select the User and Groups tab to allow Enpass access only for specific users.

Once this process is complete, users should be able to connect to OneDrive with Enpass.
