Importing macOS passwords into Enpass

Passkeys (for signing into accounts with fingerprints or face recognition) are not transferrable by design, and cannot be imported or exported between password managers.

 

Moving your macOS passwords to Enpass is easy!

To export your passwords from macOS:

  1. On your Mac, go to System Settings > Passwords.
  2. Click the ••• menu, and select Export All Passwords, and follow the steps provided.
  3. Select Desktop or Downloads as the location to save your exported file.

To import your macOS Passwords data into Enpass:

  1. In the Enpass desktop app, go to the File menu, and select Import > macOS Passwords.
  2. Under Select File, click the folder icon.
  3. Locate the exported .csv file on your computer, and click Continue.
    Locate and select your exported file, then click continue
  4. If you have multiple Enpass vaults, select the vault where you want your imported Items to appear. (Your Primary vault is selected by default.)
  5. Click Continue, and after the import is completed, click Done.

Imported items are categorized in Enpass based on available data. Any items Enpass was unable to categorize will appear in Categories > Uncategorized in the Enpass sidebar.

After confirming your data has been successfully imported, for your security be sure to delete the unencrypted files you used to import your data, then empty your computer's trash/recycling bin.
