Generating complex random passwords in Enpass

While generating random passwords, you can decide the length of the password, and the minimum number of uppercase, digits, and symbols used in the passwords. Enpass will automatically comply with a website's password requirements and restrictions.

To generate random passwords:

  1. In the Item Details view while adding an item or editing an item.
  2. Below the password field, click the Generate button.
  3. In the Generate Password overlay, use the controls provided to adjust the password to fit any requirements, including...
    • Password length
    • Creating a pronounceable password
    • Which kinds of characters can be included

Click More Options at the bottom of the overlay for more fine-grained control over the kinds of characters generated.

To generate random passwords:

  1. Tap Audit, and then scroll down to tap Password Generator.
  2. Tap the toggle key to turn off the Pronounceable.

  3. Move the slider to set the length of the password.

Once you generate the password, use the options mentioned below:

  • Click Fill (desktop Enpass) or Use (mobile Enpass) to commit to your new password.
  • Click Copy to copy the new password to your clipboard.

  • Click ⋮ to view the History, or Reset the password generator.

You can further specify the use, exclusion, and frequency of uppercase, digits, symbols and more ambiguous characters by opening More Options at the bottom of the Password Generator screen.

Turning on the Ambiguous Characters toggle allows the use of characters that can sometimes be mistaken for each other by the human eye: 0 and O, 1 and I (uppercase i) and l (lower case L).
