Generating pronounceable passwords in Enpass

Pronounceable passwords contain a string of randomly generated, easy-to-read dictionary words that combine to make a strong — but more memorable. Such passwords are harder to crack than passwords based on personal information. Enpass uses Diceware methodology to generate pronounceable passwords.

To generate pronounceable passwords:

  1. In the Item Details view while adding an item or editing an item.

  2. Below the password field, click the Generate button.
  3. Turn on the Pronounceable toggle.

  4. Use the Words slider to determine the number of words in your new password, and the other controls to determine kinds of characters can be included.

To generate pronounceable passwords:

  1. Tap Audit, and then scroll down to the Password Generator.
  2. Tap Password Generator.
  3. Tap the toggle key to turn on the Pronounceable.

  4. Move the slider to the number of words required.

To generate pronounceable passwords:

  1. Tap Audit and scroll down to the Generate Password.
  2. Tap Password Generator.
  3. Tap the toggle key to turn on the Pronounceable.

  4. Move the slider to set the number of words required.

Pronounceable passwords can be made stronger and safer with the Uppercase, Digits and Separated By options.

Once you generate the password, use the options mentioned below:

  • Click Fill (desktop Enpass) or Use (mobile Enpass) to commit to your new password.
  • Click Copy to copy the new password to your clipboard
    Choose available options to use the password generated
  • Click to view the History, or Reset the password generator.

You can further specify the use, exclusion, and frequency of uppercase, digits, symbols and more ambiguous characters by opening More Options at the bottom of the Password Generator screen.

Turning on the Ambiguous Characters toggle allows the use of characters that can sometimes be mistaken for each other by the human eye: 0 and O, 1 and I (uppercase i) and l (lower case L).
